Namsan Tower Rooftop Cafe with Steep Climb

Getting to this Instagrammable cafe requires a bit of a hike. When I checked the bus information, there was no direct bus from Changsin Station at the time, so I walked about 20 minutes uphill. I thought it would be fine, but the steep slopes were tougher than expected — definitely take a bus or car if you can!

On the first floor, you’ll find the counter and outdoor seating. The view is stunning — you can see Namsan Tower and the Naksan Fortress Wall Trail.

At the counter, a variety of desserts are displayed. Their Basque cheesecake, tiramisu, and layer cakes are popular picks. I ordered the plain Basque cheesecake and the new drink menu Matcha Shot Latte.

It’s a pre-order system so you choose your seat afterward. Since the bell might ring quietly, it’s better to wait near the counter when your order is ready.

Namsan Tower Rooftop Cafe with Minimalist Interior

The second floor was closed during my visit, but the third floor had low chairs and minimalist decor. I arrived around 3 p.m., and sunlight filled the room. It was warm so the rooftop felt cooler. Thankfully, you can ask the staff to turn on the air conditioning.

Through the door at the back of the third floor, you can reach the rooftop. It has low seating and offers one of the best city views in Seoul. This is where everyone takes photos — it’s a perfect spot for both day and night shots.

As the sun sets, the cafe transforms. Around 6 p.m., the staff turned off most lights except for a few on the third floor, creating a cozy evening mood. The night view with Namsan Tower lights and cityscape is stunning. Personally, I think Tertre is even more beautiful at night than during the day.

Weak Wi-Fi & No Outlets

The low seating makes it uncomfortable for long stays or laptop work. The sunlight can be harsh during the day, and Wi-Fi didn’t work on the third floor when I visited. It’s definitely more of a mood cafe than a workspace.

Menu Review

Basque cheesecake & matcha Shot Latte

Basque cheesecake

matcha Shot Latte

Matcha Shot Latte (₩9,000) — Stir before drinking. It has a latte and matcha flavor. It remided me of oolong bubble tea. I really enjoyed it.
Basque Cheesecake (₩9,500) — Not overly sweet, with a creamy yet soft bread texture. The blueberry jam was on the side. It tasted better with it — I wished there was more of it!

Final Thoughts: Namsan Tower Rooftop Cafe in Seoul

Tertre, the Namsan Tower rooftop cafe near Changsin Station, stands out for its stunning panorama of Namsan Tower, Naksan Fortress Wall, and the city lights. The vibe changes completely from day to night, making it a perfect spot to enjoy both sunset and night views.

The desserts were delicious. I recommend the Basque cheesecake and Matcha Shot Latte. However, due to the steep uphill walk, I recommend taking a bus or driving. If you want to experience Seoul’s sunset and night view, Tertre is a must-visit rooftop cafe with great atmosphere.
