Hoegi Best Thai Food Spot: Why Ssawatdi Thai Had Me Coming Back Twice
Hoegi best Thai food? For me, it’s Ssawatdi Thai. Out of every Thai restaurant I’ve tried, this place takes the #1 spot. On my first visit, I ordered Tom Yum Kung and Poo Phad Pong Curry — the crab curry was so good I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Unfortunately, the Tom Yum Kung wasn’t really my style. On my second visit, I had the crab curry and Nasi Goreng, and both were absolutely delicious. If you’re craving Thai food near Hoegi Station, Ssawatdi Thai is a must-visit!
Ssawatdi Thai 📍 Location 2F–3F, 3 Kyunghee-daero, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul 🕒 Opening Hours Daily: 11:00 – 22:00 (21:00 Last order) 📞 Contact 0507-1325-5278 |
It’s a 9-minute walk from Hoegi Station (Line 1), located at the Kyunghee University intersection. The yellow sign is hard to miss. Head up the stairs to reach the 2nd or 3rd floor.

The 2nd floor has about 3 tables; the 3rd floor has more seating.
Nasi Goreng & Poo Phad Pong Curry (Crab Curry) — Must-Order Menu

Before heading upstairs, Ssawatdi Thai displays their TOP 6 most popular dishes — that’s how we decided to try the Nasi Goreng that day. Besides Nasi Goreng and Poo Phad Pong Curry, Tom Yum Noodles, Yam Woon Sen, Morning Glory, and Pad Thai are also fan favorites. I’d love to try the Pad Thai next time.

They offer a set menu for two, but since portions are generous, we just ordered two mains.

We went with Poo Phad Pong Curry (₩27,000) and Nasi Goreng (₩12,000).

I was nervous about trying Nasi Goreng for the first time, but it was absolutely incredible. Honestly, I liked it even more than the Poo Phad Pong Curry (Crab Curry).

Break that egg yolk and take a bite…

The Nasi Goreng was savory and packed with umami, topped with shrimp and chicken. Next up was the Poo Phad Pong Curry.

This creamy crab curry with crispy crabs, vegetables, and egg is a must-order. Pair it with rice — each main dish comes with one bowl of rice included.
