Cafe COMMA Yeouido Seoul: Best Book Café for Working & Study

Introduction: My First Café Review in Seoul

Hi! Welcome to my very first blog post. If you continue following along, you’ll quickly notice that I’m obsessed with café lattes and love working in cafés across Seoul. Today’s post is about my recent visit to Cafe COMMA in Yeouido, a popular café for people who want to read, study, or get work done.

Originally, I had planned to visit Foreplan (포어플랜) in Ttukseom, but my mom recommended this place instead. (I’ll post about Foreplan next time—stay tuned!)

Getting to Cafe COMMA in Yeouido

Looking for a café to work near Wangsimni? Cafe COMMA Yeouido is a bit farther out, but definitely worth the trip. I left home around 1 PM and took the subway from Wangsimni. It took me about 40 minutes to arrive. If you’re using public transport, transfer to Line 5 at Haengdang Station (one stop from Wangsimni), and ride straight to Yeouido Station, Exit 5.

Pro tip: Be ready to climb some long stairs when exiting the station! The weather was hot and humid, so I was eager to get inside.

Ordering at Cafe COMMA: Latte & Bean Options

Inside, the café is spacious and organized, with beautiful display shelves of books, goods, and baked items. You can line up to order pastries or drinks at the counter. I decided to keep it simple and ordered a café latte with “Prime” beans.

Prefer to skip the line? There’s a self-order kiosk located next to the long communal table you see when you first walk in. It’s a convenient option if you want to browse the menu at your own pace.

Coffee Bean Options at Cafe COMMA

One of the unique features of Cafe COMMA is the ability to choose your coffee beans. Here are the three options:

  • Prime: A bright floral aroma, peach-like acidity, and a nutty macadamia finish.
  • Night Train: Rich, nutty flavor with a deep chocolate aftertaste.
  • Decaf: Nutty, with a hint of green grape sweetness and fruity aroma. (+700 KRW)

Bonus tip: Bring your own tumbler to get a 10% discount on all drinks. My café latte cost 6,000 KRW, and the Wi-Fi password is printed on your receipt—so don’t throw it away!

Latte Review: Was It Worth It?

The latte was served in a paper cup, which started to feel a bit soggy after a while, but the drink itself was well-balanced—not too bitter, with a smooth ratio of milk to coffee. A reliable, comforting choice for any latte lover.

Atmosphere at Café COMMA: A Book Café in Seoul

If you’re searching for a book café in Yeouido or a peaceful spot to study in Seoul, Cafe COMMA might be perfect. The entire space is filled with books, modern lighting, and even a mini art gallery on the second floor.

Comparing the First and Second Floors

  • Second floor: Quieter, dimmer lighting, cozy vibes.
  • First floor: Brighter, more energy, closer to the counter and main activity.

Personally, I enjoyed the first floor more—it had a warmer and more social atmosphere. Also, I loved the London-style wall lamps, which added a nice touch (even if I don’t really know what London vibes are like, lol).

How Book Browsing Works at Café COMMA

Here’s how the book system works at this book-themed café in Seoul:

  • If you buy a drink, you can read any book that is not sealed and doesn’t have a belly band.
  • Some books with a belly band are still labeled 열람용 (“for viewing”)—those are okay to browse!
  • Want to buy a book? You can purchase sealed ones with a belly band at 10% off.

There’s even a search computer on the second floor to help you find specific titles.

Power Outlets and Best Seats for Working

Looking for a café with power outlets in Yeouido? Not all seats at Café COMMA have them. When I arrived, the outlet seats were all taken, so I settled for the long high table near the entrance.

After a while, though, my lower half started to hurt from the tall stool (relatable?). Around 3 PM, I moved to a low chair near the window that had an outlet. The café wasn’t too crowded, so I found this new seat easily—even during rush hour.

Café Rules to Know Before You Visit

Before you settle in at Cafe COMMA Yeouido, keep these basic rules in mind:

  • No outside food or drinks are allowed.
  • Don’t leave your belongings unattended for more than 30 minutes—staff may clear your spot if you do.

Final Thoughts: Is Café COMMA Worth Visiting?

If you’re looking for a quiet, spacious café in Seoul where you can work, read, or study, Cafe COMMA in Yeouido is definitely worth checking out. The calm environment, beautiful interior, and variety of seating options make it perfect for both productivity and downtime.

I’m really glad I listened to my mom and tried it out. I’ll be sharing more café reviews soon—next up is Foreplan in Ttukseom, so stay tuned! 😊
