You can get there by taking the Jongno03 bus from Changsin Station to Naksan Park. Gaeppul Cafe is famous as a filming location for dramas like ‘Goblin’ and ‘I Live Alone’. The cafe is divided into two spaces selling beverages and bakery items.

The area with the counter is more popular and offers great views of the Seoul city skyline. You can see the city view from the 1st floor seats, but the 2nd floor view looks better as houses partially block the view on the first floor. You can purchase bakery items at Baeogae Bakery right next door, including sweet breads like cakes, macarons, and egg tarts, or breads you can enjoy as meals like garlic baguettes, mentaiko baguettes, and jambon ciabatta.

Recommended Menu

Cafe Latte and Pollock Roe Baguette

  • Cafe Latte (6,500 won): Strong coffee bean flavor over milk.
  • Pollock Roe Baguette (4,800 won): Crispy on the outside and well-baked, the saltiness of the mentaiko pairs well with the baguette and it’s delicious.

You can also enjoy the sunset and the beautiful night view.

It takes about 9 minutes on foot from Mapo Station Exit 4. Chaegro consists of four floors—3rd, 6th, 8th, and 9th floors—and each floor has a slightly different atmosphere, so you can choose a seat according to your preference.

You can order drinks on the 8th floor, and the Hangang River view from this floor is really beautiful. The 9th floor is the quietest floor, decorated like a bookstore, perfect for reading quietly. There’s also a rooftop connected, which doesn’t have air conditioning but has a really beautiful view. The 3rd floor is great for those who like English books, and the 6th floor has an attractive green atmosphere decorated with plants.

Tertre, a city view cafe near Changsin Station, is a place with really impressive views of Namsan Tower, Naksan Fortress Trail, and downtown Seoul. The 1st floor has a counter and outdoor seating where you can see Namsan Tower, Naksan Fortress Trail, and the panoramic view of downtown Seoul.

The 3rd floor has low chairs, and you can go up to the rooftop through a door at the end. The rooftop also has low seating and it’s wonderful because you can see the entire city. During the day, you can enjoy the open view, and at night, the lights turn on and it transforms into a completely different atmosphere. Around 6 PM, a staff member comes up and turns on only a few lights on the 3rd floor and turns off the rest, transforming the minimalist space during the day into an atmospheric Seoul night view cafe at night. When you go up to the rooftop, you can see the lights of Namsan Tower together with the city’s night view, which is really impressive.

Recommended Menu

Basque Cake plain & matcha shot latte

  • Matcha Shot Latte (9,000 won): If you stir and drink it, it has a matcha flavor in the latte and it’s delicious.
  • Basque Cake Plain (9,500 won): Not too sweet, with a texture between chewy cheese and fluffy bread. It’s even more appealing when eaten with the blueberry jam provided on the side.

Note: Since there are many uphill roads, it can be a bit difficult to come on foot, so it’s better to visit using a bus or car. Personally, I highly recommend visiting at night rather than during the day.
